AURORA, Colo. – A campus monitor at an Aurora high school has been arrested on charges of sexual assault of a child, involving a student, officials said.

James Dolmas, 28, was arrested Friday, police said. He faces charges of sex assault on a child by someone in a position of trust and sexual exploitation of a child.

Dolmas is a campus monitor at Rangeview High School, where school officials learned of allegations that Dolmas was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student, principal Lisa Grosz said in a letter to the school. A campus monitor helps supervise students and enforce building security, according to the Aurora Public Schools website.

The school reported the allegations to police and put Dolmas on leave. Grosz said in the letter that the school district hired Dolmas in 2010 and that nothing on his background check showed any inappropriate or criminal behavior.

Police are still investigating the case and more details weren't being released.
