AURORA, Colo. — Aurora police are investigating a possible hit-and-run that left a man dead in the street early Monday.

Around 1 a.m. Monday, officers with the Aurora Police Department, as well as Aurora Fire Rescue, responded to a report of a man in the roadway on S. Parker Road near the Nine Mile RTD Station.

When they arrived at the scene, officers found a man in the middle of the road of the exit lane from southbound I-225 to southbound Parker Road, according to police. Authorities with Aurora Fire Rescue attempted life-saving measures, but the man’s injuries were too severe. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said a driver stayed at the scene because he or she believed they may have struck the man. Based on a preliminary investigation, police say another vehicle likely hit the man and left the scene beforehand.

Police said the man was crossing in an unlit section of road where there’s not a crosswalk.

The man has not been identified.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anybody with information on this crash should call Officer Richard Mervin at 303-739-6076.
