ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. – An Aurora man accused of stabbing his stepfather to death in 2017 and posting the aftermath of the killing on Snapchat pleaded guilty on Friday, according to court records.

Nickolas Vinson, who was 19 at the time of the killing, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder. A judge will consider sentence enhancers for the commission of a violent crime causing death and involving a weapon at Vinson's sentencing hearing on Sept. 23.

Vinson was charged in the Dec. 14, 2017, death of Oscar Lemar Owensby, 50, at their home in Aurora.

Vinson told Aurora police that he and Owensby were arguing earlier that day about household chores and money, and that he stabbed Owensby out of fear, the Associated Press reported. Investigators said Vinson posted a Snapchat video of his mother screaming next to Owensby's body after the stabbing.

Vinson in October had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
