ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado family with a history of running resort-area hotels says it is close to acquiring a Glenwood Springs hotel.

Melville family spokesman Craig Melville said Thursday that Mountain Chalet Enterprises and its subsidiary, Historic Hotel Colorado LLC, plan to close on their acquisition of the famed Hotel Colorado at the end of the month.

The Aspen Times reports that Hotel Colorado is currently owned by the Bastian family of Wichita, Kansas through Glenwood Properties Inc.

If the Melville family successfully acquires the hotel, it will be the third hotel under the family's ownership.

Craig Melville says they plan to make capital improvements on the 134-guest room Glenwood Springs hotel and hire more staff.
