JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — An Arvada man died in a rollover crash on Wednesday evening after he was ejected from the car and it landed on top of him.

Master Trooper Gary Cutler with the Colorado State Patrol said around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, authorities responded to a single-car crash on Highway 72 (Coal Creek Canyon Road) near Candelas Parkway.

The crash initially was reported as involving a pedestrian in which the driver possibly fled the scene, but further investigation revealed it was a single-car rollover, Cutler said Friday morning. The driver, a 41-year-old man from Arvada, had been ejected in the rollover and the vehicle ended up on top of him. He died of his injuries.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash, Cutler said.

The man has not been identified. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
