Arrest warrants issued after El Paso County authorities find emaciated, dead horses

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — Two arrest warrants have been issued for a suspect after authorities found 10 emaciated and two dead horses on a property in El Paso County.

On March 10 around 2:30 p.m., a deputy with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office’s Rural Enforcement Outreach Team was contacted by several people complaining of animal neglect.

When officers obtained a search warrant for a property along the 3200 block of Slocum Road.

On March 11, deputies with the Rural Enforcement Outreach Team, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region and the Dumb Friends League Harmony Equine Center arrived at the property.

Authorities contacted the owner of horses at the location and found 10 horses in various stages of emaciation, according to the sheriff's office. Two had died inside stalls of a large barn.

All of the living horses were seized and transported to an approved boarding facility.

Two arrest warrants were issued for the owner, 53-year-old Brian Holloway. He is facing two counts of felony cruelty to animals and 10 counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals.
