BOULDER, Colo. — Amazon’s advertising hub in Boulder is expanding into a new downtown office after a year of rapid growth, the company announced Thursday morning.

The company said it plans to expand its advertising business in Boulder with a new 37,000-square-foot office downtown, which will open in the fall.

“With Boulder’s technical talent and culture of innovation, Amazon is pleased to be bringing additional jobs to the city as its presence in Colorado grows,” according to an Amazon press release. “For reference, the company has created more than 1,500 full-time jobs in Colorado already – in less than 24 months – at corporate offices and customer fulfillment locations across the state.”

Amazon CFO Brian Oslavsky said the company’s advertising business is a multi-billion-dollar program and continues to grow quickly. The new office will help support this rapid growth.

The company first started building its advertising team in Boulder in July 2017 with a small office, said Amazon’s Vice President of Multichannel Advertising Tim Craycroft.

“Boulder has a strong tech community, including a dynamic startup ecosystem and a number of more established companies,” he said. “Boulder also has a strong concentration of advertising tech talent. Then there’s the actual city itself. Boulder is a great place to live and work, especially if you enjoy outdoor adventure. Awesome road and mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, fishing, and skiing are all at your doorstep or a short drive away. Three hundred days of sun per year doesn’t hurt either.”

So, how will the innovations that stem from the new office help Amazon customers?

“Advertising drives product discovery, helping customers find brands and products they may not know about on Amazon.com,” Craycroft said. “Our ability to show customers highly relevant ads also drives better performance for these advertisers – which include vendors, sellers, and authors – and helps them grow their businesses on Amazon.”
