COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Officials with the Air Force are investigating allegations of cheating and hazing by cadets at the Air Force Academy.

Denver7 sister station KRDO reported Mondayon the two separate investigations.

According to an email sent to a Congressional subcommittee obtained by the station, the first investigation is criminal and deals with hazing, bullying, abusive sexual contact, and drug use occurring on the Academy's lacrosse team.

The email purportedly includes statements from an outgoing cadet who affirmed the allegations against the lacrosse team.

The second investigation is looking into claims that 13 freshman cadets cheated on basic, periodic knowledge tests.

The Director of Air Force Academy Public Affairs, Lt. Col. Allen Herritage, confirmed the investigations are occurring in a statement sent to the Colorado Springs ABC affiliate.
