GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Grand Junction police said they were involved in a shooting with an armed man early Friday along Jack Creek Road.

Around 1 a.m. Friday, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a man with a gun outside a residence along the 2400 block of Jack Creek Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a 29-year-old male walking eastbound on the road with a handgun.

While details are unclear, the police department said a “confrontation occurred between the male and officers on scene and an officer-involved shooting occured.”

The man was transported to a hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries. No officers were injured.

Authorities continued to process the scene of the shooting, so residents may have seen an increased police presence in the area.

The involved officers will be placed on administrative leave, per agency policy.

The 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team will investigate the incident.
