AURORA, Colo. — An 85-year-old man on a bicycle died after he was struck by a garbage truck in Aurora Monday.

It happened around 2:54 p.m. at the intersection of East Exposition Avenue and Havana Street.

The 85-year-old man was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the driver of the commercial trash collection vehicle remained on the scene and was cooperative. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors to the accident.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office after a positive identification has been made, and his next-of-kin has been notified.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash, has dash cam footage, or have any information about this incident, to contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
