1. Head out to the state’s oldest county fair in Boulder County
What: Head out to the oldest fair in Colorado this weekend! The Boulder County Fair is celebrating its 150th anniversary with bull riding, demolition derby, truck and tractor pull, extreme jousting, and much more.
Where: Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Road in Longmont, Colo.
When: Now until Sunday, Aug. 11 at 4 p.m.

2. Get in the swing of things at the Telluride Jazz Festival
What: Head to the San Juan Mountains in southwestern Colorado for the Telluride Jazz Festival! The festival ranks among the most scenic events in the country and there will be food vendors, craft brews, cocktails, a parade with colorful floats, costumes and much more.

What: Missed the burro races in Fairplay a couple of weeks ago? Don’t fear! The town of Buena Vista is hosting their own Burro Race Triple Crown event along with historical re-enactments, free live music, over100 vendors, a beer garden and – get this – toilet seat racing.

5. Take your inner bohemian on a night out to Fort Collins’ NewWestFest
What: Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest is co-produced with the Downtown Fort Collins Business Association to bring a three-day music festival to the public each August! In addition to live music, the festival features more than 200 art, specialty and food booths. There’s also a Kids’ Music Adventure zone for the little ones.
