AURORA, Colo. — Four Smoky Hill High School staff members were placed on leave following an incident with an armed student, the school’s principal announced Tuesday.

In an email to parents, Smoky Hill High School Principal Chuck Puga wrote that the four are being investigated by Aurora police for how they handled “an alleged incident off campus involving a student in possession of a gun.”

Puga does not provide a date as to when it occurred or identify the student involved. No person was harmed in the incident.

Denver7 has reached out to Aurora Police and the Cherry Creek School District for more details regarding the incident, but haven’t heard back.

Assistant principal Noah Harris, athletic director John Thompson, head wrestling coach Tommy Loyd and assistant coach and Jakob Fisher were placed on leave, Puga wrote.

In the email, Puga wrote the school is cooperating with law enforcement and awaiting a determination.
