LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Two men were injured in a drive-by shooting Sunday evening in Lakewood.

On Sunday at 10:37 p.m., the Lakewood Police Department received several 911 calls about multiple gunshots heard along the 5400 block of the 6th Avenue Frontage Road.

When officers arrived on scene, they found two men who appeared to have gunshot wounds, police said. Both were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Based on the preliminary investigation, 10 to 15 people were at a party at an apartment when a dark-colored SUV drove by and fired multiple shots into a group of people standing outside, police said.

The Lakewood Police Department said it is aware of the drive-by shooting in Denver earlier Sunday, in which nine people were shot at a family gathering, but it is too early in the investigation to determine if the two incidents are connected.

This is an ongoing investigation. No other details were available as of Monday morning.

Anybody with information on the Lakewood shooting is asked to call police at 303-987-7111.
