18-year-old Chrystian Aguirre-Tarin accused of repeatedly stabbing man in Evans

Suspect and victim know each other, police say

EVANS, Colo. - An 18-year-old Greeley man has been arrested and accused of repeatedly stabbing another man in Evans on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Chrystian Aguirre-Tarin is being held on investigation of first-degree assault in the Weld County Jail, Evans Police Chief Rick Brandt said Friday.

Police responded to a medical emergency call about 2 p.m. Thursday in the 3300 block of 11th Avenue. Officers found a man who was badly bleeding from multiple stab wounds to his upper body, Brandt said.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Northern Colorado Medical Center. He underwent surgery and is expected to recover.

Investigators determined that the victim was stabbed in a vehicle, which was found parked in a nearby lot, police said.

Police were not releasing the victim's name Friday, but Brandt said the man and Aguirre-Tarin know each other and are about the same age.

Investigators haven't been able to interview the hospitalized victim and have not developed a motive for the attack, the chief added.
