TRINIDAD, Colo. — A fall from a mountainside in Trinidad led to the death of a 11-year-old girl Sunday evening.
Police say they rushed to Simpson's Rest after receiving reports about the girl's fall. Las Animas County Sheriff's Office deputies say they found the girl on the southwest side of the bluff.
Deputies set to work on first aid and helped rush the girl to a nearby hospital. The girl died from her injuries at the hospital.
Investigation is underway, but police say the girl — who has yet to be identified — fell about 15 feet. Police say she was with her family members at the time of the fall.
