1 dead after suspected DUI driver runs stop sign, collides with car and crashes into Denver home

DENVER — A driver is dead following a two-vehicle collision in which one of the cars crashed into a home in Denver's Westwood neighborhood Friday afternoon.

Police said the driver of a minivan ran a stop sign, collided with a sports coupe and then crashed into a home in the 800 block of South Patton Court around 3 p.m.

The minivan driver was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence, according to a release from the Denver Police Department. The driver's name and age have not been released.

There were at least two people in the coupe, an adult male driver and a child. The driver was killed in the collision, according to the release. Paramedics transported the child to the hospital as a precaution.

Police said people were inside the house at the time of the crash, but no one inside was injured. The suspected DUI driver was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
