Grief Counselors At Horizon High After Fatal Crash

Popular High School Junior Dies In After-Prom Accident

Grief counselors will be on hand at a Thornton school Monday as classmates and staff deal with the weekend death of a 17-year-old student.

Devon Knight died at about 7 a.m. Sunday when his Pontiac Grand Prix crossed the center line of 104th Avenue near Brighton Road in Thornton and hit a Nissan Exterra head-on. He and his prom date had just attended an after-prom party and he was driving her home.

Knight’s passenger, Tasheena Zorn, 17, of Thornton, and the driver of the Exterra, Jacob Nottage, 23, of Westminster, were rushed to Denver Health Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Knight and Zorn were juniors at Horizon High School.

Investigators said that drugs or alcohol were not suspected in the crash.

A candlelight memorial was scheduled at the high school football field Monday night at 8 p.m.
