One woman is dead after being hit by a two thieves driving a stolen car. It happened while police, with lights and sirens, were chasing the suspects.

The incident started when a man's F350 pickup truck, trailer and 2 off-road vehicles were stolen from his house in the 8600 block of 86th Circle.

The man called police as he was following the thieves.

Westminster officers caught up with the stolen car as the driver was headed northbound on Wadsworth Parkway. Police turned on their lights and sirens in the 9400 block of Wadsworth and tried to pull over the suspects.

That's when, police say, the suspect driver decided to drive over the median. The thief hit a silver SUV traveling southbound on Wadsworth. The driver of that vehicle, a woman, died at the scene of the crash.

When the stolen car stopped, one suspect ran and one was arrested, Westminster police said.

Police from Arvada and Broomfield assisted Westminster officers in the search. Officers went door-to-door Tuesday night looking for the second suspect as Denver Police Department's helicopter looked from above. Authorities did not find the person they were looking for.

He's described as a Hispanic man with dark hair. He was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt and jeans. Westminster investigators do not believe the suspect is still in the area but anyone with information should call police.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office will release the name of the woman who died once her family has been notified.

The man who was burglarized did get back one of his off-road vehicles. The razor vehicle had fallen off the trailer in the 8600 block of Queen Street.
