Mom, 1-year-old toddler killed in two-vehicle crash in Weld County identified

WELD COUNTY, Colo. – The woman and toddler killed in a two-vehicle crash in Weld County on Monday morning have been identified by the Weld County Coroner.

Twenty-year-old Adrianna Lyzette Lopez-Varela and her child, 18-month-old Ezekiel Gonzalez-Lopez, both of the Town of Galeton, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on County Road 74 just east of County Road 47 at around 10:30 a.m. Monday, the Weld County Coroner said in a news release.

The woman was not wearing a seat belt, according to the coroner; Ezekiel was in his car seat at the time of the crash, the coroner stated.

The driver of the semi, 64-year-old Randy Parrish, of Greeley, was not injured and stayed at the scene, according to the coroner's report.

A spokesperson for the Colorado State Patrol said neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be a factor in the crash. Additionally, the spokesperson said they are not expecting to file any charges in connection with this crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the CSP. The manner and cause of death for both victims is pending autopsy and laboratory results.
