DENVER -- A nurse has been suspended by the state of Colorado on allegations of illegally filling controlled substance prescriptions.
Kaylin Marie Zager was working part-time for a doctor last year.
State regulators said Zager called a pharmacy in Loveland with a prescription for 120 pills of tramadol, a narcotic used to treat moderate to severe pain.
"The pharmacist subsequently called the physician’s office to verify the name on the prescription and was informed that no such prescription had been requested," according to the Division of Professions and Occupations (DPO).
Officials said investigators believe that Zager "illegally called in numerous controlled substances for herself, using the name and Drug Enforcement Agency numbers of the physician and a nurse practitioner at the physician’s practice."
Zager's license to practice as a nurse was suspended effective Jan. 12.
Officials have not yet decided if Zager will face further discipline.
