BOULDER COUNTY, Colo -- A shooting suspect is recovering in the hospital following a shootout with the Boulder County Sheriff's Deputy Saturday afternoon.
The Sheriff's Office said it received multiple calls from drivers about a man acting aggressively toward motorists in the 7500 block of North 107th. The callers told dispatch they noticed the man had a gun tucked into the waist band of his pants.
Investigators said the man opened fire on the deputy who responded to the scene. The gunfire shattered the window to the deputy's patrol SUV. Fortunately, the female deputy was not hurt.

The sheriff's office said the suspect was hurt when the deputy fired back. The alleged shooter was described as being in "critical, grave condition" by Commander Mike Wagner with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
Highway 287 was closed between Oxford Road and Niwot Road for most of the evening for the investigation.
