LITTLETON, Colo. -- Harley’s: A Hot Dog Revolution recently opened up its doors to anyone who's hungry -- even if that means giving some food away to help feed the homeless.

While it was a good idea in theory, it's now affecting that business’ bottom line.

Word that the Littleton hot dog joint was feeding the homeless for free got out so quickly that owners are having a hard time keeping up with the demand.

"We didn't realize the enormity of the homeless population in Littleton," said owner Ed Ginsburg. "Last year we fed over three times what we fed our first year."

Because of the demand and what Ginsburg views as a serious calling to feed whomever is hungry for free, he started a GoFundMe page hoping to keep helping the homeless.

"There’s a need,” Ginsburg said. “We're just hoping that we can continue doing what we're doing."
