ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. – A large trash fire is burning in Adams County and officials are warning the public to stay as far away from the area as they battle to put out the flames.
The fire was burning at a Waste Management transfer plant near I-270 and Brighton Boulevard late Thursday afternoon.

A billowing plume of white smoke could be seen for miles by AIRTRACKER7. No injuries were reported, according to the South Adams County Fire Department.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area.

The cause of the fire is unknown, an official with the South Adams County Fire Department said.
