LAKEWOOD, Colo. -– A man was struck and killed in Lakewood early Thursday night, according to the Lakewood Police Department.

The fatal crash was reported in the area of Wadsworth Boulevard and W. 23rd Avenue at around 7:45 p.m., a spokesperson with the Lakewood Police Department said in a statement.

When agents arrived, they found the body of 52-year-old Eric Cosby, a resident of Arvada, in the street. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement, officials said.

The influence of drugs or alcohol was not being considered a factor in the crash, police said, adding no charges were expected to be filed against the driver.

The northbound lanes of Wadsworth Blvd. were closed between 22nd and Pike View Court, the spokesperson said. Only one southbound lane was open.

The road was back open by 10:41 p.m.
