Third arrest in Golden home-invasion stabbing

Authorities have arrested a woman suspected of driving the getaway car used in the home invasion and stabbing of a father of two, who is a teacher at Bell Middle School.

Julia Katharine Johnson, 19, of Westminster, was arrested late Friday. She was booked into the Jefferson County Jail for Complicity on the following charges:

  • Second-degree murder - criminal attempt
  • First-degree burglary
  • First-degree assault
  • Aggravated robbery - criminal attempt
  • Felony menacing
  • False imprisonment
  • Third-degree assault

Police suspect she was involved in  the attack on Jesse Swift at his home on Washington Avenue Monday night.

Three men went to the home expecting to find $10,000 in cash and drugs but were given the wrong address, according to Golden police.

"The husband quickly got into an altercation with all three suspects in an attempt to stop them," Golden police spokeswoman Karlyn Tilley said in a news release. "At one point he was able to grab a knife from the kitchen and stab one of the suspects."

Swift has stab wounds to his kidney and a punctured lung, along with several other lacerations. He is expected to make a full recovery according to a statement released by the family on Wednesday.

The family's two children were in the basement asleep during the incident.

One of the suspects was also hospitalized. He has been identified as Caleb Williams, 21.

Police later took a 17-year-old male into custody but did not identify him because he is a juvenile.

Police are still looking for 20-year-old Cody Aaron Jones.
