Ex-Subway pitchman Jared Fogle could serve time in Colorado at Englewood FCI

DENVER - The former Subway pitchman going to prison on child porn charges may serve his time in Colorado.

Jared Fogle was sentenced to serve 15 years and eight months in prison and ordered to pay a $175,000 fine for trading in child pornography and having sex with underage prostitutes.

During Thursday's sentencing hearing, defense attorneys and the judge made the recommendation that Fogle be sent to Englewood FCI in Colorado. The US Attorney's office did not dispute the request, said spokesman Tim Horty, but the final decision will be made by the Bureau of Prisons.

Englewood FCI (Federal Correctional Institute) is a low security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp and a detention center, according to its website.

Englewood FCI houses at least one other famous person -- former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Blago arrived in 2012.

Blagojevich reportedly chose Englewood FCI because it ranks as one of the least violent and least crowded federal prisons.

FCI Englewood is located 15 miles southwest of Denver, off U.S. Highway 285 and South Kipling Street.
