DENVER -- Passengers inside a United Flight flying from Denver to Reno are safe after the plane rolled off the taxiway and into a grassy area at Denver International Airport Sunday night.
United Flight 296 was scheduled to depart from DIA at 7:38 p.m., according to FlightAware.com but the airplane's brakes went out and the plane parked in the grass on the runway, said Mike Higdon, a passenger who tweeted from inside the plane.
Pilot explained that as we pulled toward runway, brakes wouldn't work and he did emergency reverse engines to stop us from going into ditch

He also said the plane did an "emergency reverse engines" to stop the plane from going into the ditch.
Pilot said they're securing aircraft and might be able to get us on runway "that does not mean we're taking this aircraft to Reno" #Denver

At last update, DIA was getting buses to pick up the passengers. No word on when the next flight to Reno would take off.
