DENVER – At 35 years of age, the 16th Street Mall has aging infrastructure and rising maintenance costs – and the influx of people moving daily through the mall now has the area looking for improvements, which the city wants your input on.
On Wednesday, the City of Denver shared proposed design concepts for improvements to the 16th Street Mall, which include the alignment of the transit lanes as well as the general location of trees, lights, gathering spots and pedestrian space, as part of a federal environmental process to design the Mall’s future.
The following are the proposed design concepts for the 16th Street Mall:
1. Median Asymmetrical
2. Center
3. Center Asymmetrical
City officials said more design concepts may be evaluated based on public input. A preferred alternative will be identified later this fall following further analysis and input from the public.
If you’d like to give feedback on these proposed design concepts, you are asked to go the RTD offices located at 1600 Blake Street inside the Basement Board Room on Wednesday, October 18 from noon to 1 p.m. or from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
