DENVER – Despite countless warnings by rescue officials each year, water rescues from icy ponds seem to be a reoccurring problem over the winter in Denver.

This year has not been the exception.

Denver Fire Department officials rescued two people and two dogs from the same park over the weekend.

The first water rescue happened Saturday at around 5 p.m.

Officials said two people went inside an icy pond on Washington Park to rescue their dog, before they both needed to be rescued as well.

The owners as well as the dog made it out safely, the fire department said on Twitter.

Sunday, the fire department was at it again at Washington Park at around 2:30 p.m.

This time around, they only had to worry about rescuing Francis, who was safely reunited with its owner shortly before 3 p.m..

The department’s advise?

“For your safety, if your dog is trapped on the ice call 911 and wait for help.”
