DENVER – A “large-scale, weather-related” crash involving over 50 vehicles closed 6th Ave. in both directions in west Denver, police said Thursday night.

Officers responded to the area of eastbound 6th Ave. and southbound I-25 as a result of the multiple vehicle crash just after 7:30 p.m. Video from a Denver7 viewer shows the massive pile-up on the highway as people waited outside their vehicles for officials to clear the scene.

The westbound lanes of 6th Ave. were closed at Kalamath St. while the eastbound lanes of 6th Ave. were closed at Federal Blvd.

Police said the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the large-scale crash.

The highway reopened overnight, but snowfall was making for a slow commute on the highway on Friday morning.
