DENVER -- Denver Police arrested a man suspected of flashing a laser light at Denver7's shared news helicopter Thursday morning.

The crew in the helicopter saw the blue laser light flash around 5:40 a.m.

The crew was not hurt.

They zoomed the on-board camera to get the suspect's vehicle information and location and called police.

In less than an hour, police had arrested a suspect.

According to the FAA, a law signed in 2012 makes it a federal crime to aim a laser pointer at an aircraft.

The helicopter is shared by several media organizations in Denver including Denver7, KOA Radio, KUSA, KCNC and KDVR/KWGN.
