Police say a body that was found near a Boulder County reservoir Thursday morning was that of a driver whose car was also found upside down and partially submerged in the icy water.

The car was found in the Barker Reservoir, just east of Nederland.

Officers did not see any footprints in the snow and ice around the red, 2009 Chevrolet, according to the Boulder County Sheriff. They also couldn't see anyone inside the car.

A dive team was called to search for any possible victims in the icy water, but they didn't find anyone underwater.

Later in the morning, Boulder County officials told Denver7 that a body was found just south of the car's location. A neighbor called in the report after noticing the body near a fence.

Investigators determined that the driver, David Dubie, 43, of Littleton, hit a guard rail and left the roadway at milemarker 27 on Highway 119. The car landed on its roof on the reservoir. CSP troopers believe Dubie got out of the car and walked across the frozen water. The cause of death hasn't been determined.

The Colorado State Patrol, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the Nederland Police, the Nederland Fire Department, the American Medical Response Ambulance, the Boulder Emergency Squad, the Colorado Department of Transportation and the coroner's office are assisting in the investigation.
