An HIV-positive Aurora man accused of giving a dozen young men, including runaways, a place to live in exchange for sex has posted bond and is out of jail.

Sean Travis Crumpler, 48, is charged in Arapahoe County with 11 felonies and one sentence enhancer:

  • Two counts of Trafficking Sexual Servitude of a Minor
  • Four counts of Pattern of Sex Assault of a Child/Position of Trust
  • Three counts of Sexual Contact - Coerce Child
  • Two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
  • One count of Sex Offense with Notice of HIV (sentence enhancer)

Crumpler was released after posting a $100,000 bond.

Throughout a 15-page arrest affidavit, an Aurora detective describes in graphic detail the sexual acts reported by various victims who were interviewed by police in California and Aurora.

Most of the young men Crumpler had living with him were 18 to 21 years old, but at least two were 16. One of them contacted family in California who then launched the investigation.

Many of the disturbing details are difficult to keep straight because so many names are redacted throughout the document, but certain themes are clear, including that Crumpler was described as "sugar daddy" who provided the boys with housing, clothing, money, drugs and alcohol in exchange for sex.

Police say Crumpler was keeping the boys in a large, two-story stucco home that he rented on East Hinsdale Place in Aurora. It has five bedrooms and seven baths.

One boy told police Crumpler held "orgies" with the boys and young men in his home.

"I asked (name redacted) to describe what was happening at that house, specifically why an older male had younger males in there," the detective wrote in the affidavit. "(He) answered, 'we have sex and he gives us stuff.'"

A boy said that Crumpler didn't drink alcohol or use marijuana, but he kept the home well-stocked with alcohol and "weed" to "keep [the boys] happy," the affidavit stated.

Neighbors said they thought Crumpler was a single father with teenage sons.

"When people talk about sex offenders and the registry you never know it could be so close to you," said neighbor Nnamaka Onuoha. "I was really, really shocked."

7NEWS found there were people inside the home on Tuesday. It was unclear whether it was Crumpler or the owners of the house.

At least three of the interviewees told investigators with Aurora Police and the FBI that Crumpler was HIV-positive. One also added that condoms were never used by anyone in the house.

Another theme repeating throughout the interviews described in the affidavit was that "new boys" in the house were taken upstairs to engage in numerous sexual acts with Crumpler and others in the house. Crumpler was also described by the interviewees as directing or encouraging the teens in the house to have sex.

Crumpler told one boy he was looking for "cute guys to support," according to the affidavit.

One child told police while Crumpler was driving to pick up a new "boy" in Southern California once, he said, "This is what I like to call hunting."

Crumpler is a registered sex offender, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, because he was convicted of felony solicitation of sex acts in California in 2004.

While Crumpler lives in Aurora now, an acquaintance told investigation Crumpler "was an independent computer engineering contractor" from Long Beach, California.

Crumpler’s online professional bio indicates he made a lot of money designing and selling computer billing systems for doctors’ offices in Southern California.
