AURORA, Colo. – A pedestrian who was struck early Tuesday evening in Aurora died at a hospital, and police are now asking for the public’s help in the investigation.

Investigators said the driver of a Subaru station wagon was travelling westbound on East Smith Road when it came upon a pedestrian in the roadway at Quentin Street.

The driver tried to avoid striking the pedestrian but failed, police said in a news release. The driver of that Subaru remained at the scene following the crash.

The pedestrian, only identified as a man, was taken to a hospital where he later died. His identity will be released once family has been notified.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash, has dash cam footage, or if you have any information about this incident, to please contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Drugs, alcohol nor speed are believed to be contributing factors to the accident, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
