AURORA, Colo.  – A local high school student battling bone cancer got a little holiday cheer this week following a surprise visit by a Boulder-based vocal rock band, who showed up to sing for him at Children’s Hospital.

Braden, who broke his leg a week before his 16th birthday and found out he had bone cancer when he went to the doctor to get his leg fixed, was nominated by his mom after Face Vocal Band started a Holiday Wish contest in order to thank their fans for all of their support this year.

The purpose of the campaign was for a fan to nominate someone whom they thought needed a little extra love and cheer this year, with the goal being that the band would surprise the winner with a holiday gift basket.

After hearing Braden’s story, the band knew they had to do something extra special, so they got in touch with several businesses in order to give Braden the holiday gift full of surprises, which included Avalanche Tickets, an Amazon Fire Stick, an iTunes gift card, and a race day over at K1 Speed so Braden can go and enjoy the day with friends and family whenever he is ready.

The last item on that basket was going to be tickets to Face’s concert, but since Braden wasn’t able to travel, the band brought the music to him.

“When it comes down to it, the guys just wanted to let him know he's not alone and that we're all here to support him and his family,” a representative for the band told Denver7.

In a statement posted on their Facebook page, the band said it was an honor to visit Braden and sing for him:

“[Braden] was such a pleasure to hang out with. We felt so fortunate to be called on as a part of his support team.”
