Arrest made in 11-year-old boy's shooting death in Aurora

AURORA, Colo. — An arrest has been made in the shooting death of an 11-year-old boy in Aurora in August, police said Wednesday.

The suspect, whose name is not being released, is an 18-year-old man, but he was 17 when the incident happened on Aug. 19. He faces charges of manslaughter, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, tampering with evidence and possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

Officers on Aug. 19 were called about 1:30 a.m. to the 16200 block of East 17th Place on a report of an accidental shooting, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The boy, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital and later died.
