EVERGREEN, Colo. -- You may think a 2.4-magnitude earthquake may not be much, but it was certainly enough to wake up some residents near Evergreen early Sunday.

The quake was reported 14 miles southwest of Evergreen and was recorded by the United States Geological Survey in Golden at 4:20 a.m.

Because the temblor was very shallow -- the USGS reported that it only had a depth of 3 miles -- the movement created a sound wave with it, creating noise that many people could have heard, a USGS geologist told Denver7.

Below, a USGS map of where the earthquake struck near Evergreen:

About 18 people reported the quake from Bailey, followed by three from Conifer and two from Evergreen, according to the USGS website.

No damages from this quake have been reported.
