Ex-Officer Guilty On 21 Counts In Child Sex Assault Case

Jury Deadlocked On 150 Other Counts

A jury has convicted a former Colorado Springs police officer of 21 counts related to sexual exploitation of children, but it deadlocked on 150 other counts.

A defense attorney for Joshua Carrier tells The Gazette the jury acquitted Carrier on Tuesday of the other 36 counts he faced.

The former school resource officer and volunteer wrestling coach at Horace Mann Middle School had been charged with 207 counts, including unlawful sexual contact and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. He was accused of inappropriately touching children and possessing child pornography.

Several children told investigators he fondled them while conducting wrestling team weigh-ins and skin checks.

In all, 22 boys claim to have been molested by Carrier, according to court documents.
