DENVER – Monday is the last day that Colorado voters should be returning their ballots by mail and is also the last day Coloradans can register to vote and be mailed a ballot they can return by next Tuesday’s General Election.

After Monday, Colorado voters are advised to drop their ballots off at one of the nearly 400 drop boxes across the state or to vote at a polling place to ensure their votes are counted. Mail ballots that are not received by 7 p.m. on Nov. 3 will not be counted.

Though Monday is the last day an eligible person can register to vote and still receive a mail ballot, Coloradans can register to vote at voter service and polling centers up to and on Election Day.

More than 1.6 million Coloradans had already voted as of Monday morning, according to the Colorado Secretary of State's Office. As of September, there were approximately 3.6 million active registered voters in the state.

“Coloradans have been making their voices heard this election with high turn-out during early voting. I hope this enthusiasm will help our state lead the nation in voter turnout this election,” Secretary of State Jena Griswold said in a statement.

The East Troublesome Fire has closed some drop boxes and voter service and polling centers in Grand County and Estes Park. More information about voting in those counties can be found on the Grand and Larimer county clerk and recorder’s office’s sites.

Several other drop boxes and polling centers had delayed openings or were closed Monday because of the snow and cold weather. Click here for more on the closures and delays.
