DENVER — Just days from Election Day and Colorado voters appear to be on pace to surpass the turnout in the 2016 election, according to data released by Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold.
Griswold said 2,533,050 Coloradans have already voted in the 2020 election as of Saturday, which is 88.7% of the total 2016 turnout. Colorado voters began receiving their ballots in the mail in early October.
The breakdown by voter party affiliation is 852,848 Democrats, 715,988 Republicans and 930,962 unaffiliated voters.
There were about 3.6 million active registered voters in Colorado as of Oct. 1, according to state data. Griswold’s office is expected to release more numbers in the days leading up to the General Election.
At this point, completed ballots should be dropped off at a drop box since it’s too late to mail them back. Colorado residents can also register to vote and vote in person at a voting center up to 7 p.m. on Election Day.
