The fire started Monday evening as multiple brush fires on County Road 162 in Agate.

Several fire agencies including Agate, Elbert, Simla, Limon, Rattle Snake, Elizabeth, Deer Trail, North Central, Bennett and Byers fought the fire, officials said.

While initial reports said the fire burned 2,000 acres, the Elbert County Sheriff's Office later changed that report to say 575 acres.
