AURORA, Colo. — A female pedestrian died after a driver jumped a curb and hit her Sunday morning.

On Sunday shortly after 3 a.m., officers with the Aurora Police Department were dispatched to check on a person who was lying on the sidewalk on E. Iliff Avenue east of S. Pagosa Way.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a deceased 26-year-old woman on the south sidewalk.

An investigation revealed that a vehicle driving eastbound had left the roadway for an unknown reason and drove up onto the sidewalk, where it struck the woman and a street sign before returning to the roadway.

The driver fled from the scene. As of Sunday evening, there were no witnesses to the crime.

The Aurora Police Department's Traffic Section is following up on several leads, but is asking that anyone who may have seen this crash to contact Sgt. William Revelle at 303-739-6374 or wrevelle@auroragov.org
