DENVER — A woman has been officially charged after she allegedly shot a man while their child was nearby.

Brittany Lyons, 25, was officially charged in connection to the alleged shooting death of a 27-year-old man on July 23, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

She faces charges of second-degree murder and child abuse.

The charges allege that shortly before 2:30 a.m., Lyons shot and killed a 27-year-old man in the parking lot outside of LaMar’s Donuts and Coffee at on W. 6th Ave.

Their 4-year-old child was present at the time of the shooting, according to the district attorney’s office.

When Denver police arrived on scene, they found the man lying in the parking lot with blood on his chest. Lyons was identified as a suspect and arrested on-site after police responded to a store employee’s 911 call.

The man died at about an hour after the shooting.
