GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — Prosecutors have cleared four northern Colorado sheriff's deputies who were involved in a confrontation with a man who died after he was shot with a stun gun.
The Weld County deputies were called to a Greeley home Feb. 23 and found 33-year-old Isaias Rodriguez pacing, sweating excessively and making irrational statements.
The Greeley Tribune reports that when deputies asked Rodriguez to come outside, he retreated into a bedroom occupied by two children. Three of the deputies started wrestling with Rodriguez, while the fourth picked up the children and took them out of the room.
Investigators say Rodriguez resisted and stopped breathing after he was shot with a stun gun. He died at the scene.
An autopsy determined he died of cardiac arrhythmia while under the influence of cocaine. His death has been ruled an accident.
