Weld County Coroner identifies two men killed in Greeley shooting Friday night

GREELEY, Colo. – The two men who died following a shooting near downtown Greeley Friday night have been identified by the Weld County Coroner’s Office.

The shooting happened around 5:15 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of 12th Street (near 7th Avenue and 12th Street) and left one man dead at the scene and another man in a hospital with serious injuries. The second man died early Saturday morning, police said.

The men were identified as 20-year-old Elijah Joziah Duran and 19-year-old Deionte Lashay Dior Johnson-Smith by the Weld County Coroner Monday afternoon.

The circumstances that led to the shooting remain under investigation by the Greeley Police Department.

The coroner said final determinations of the manner and cause of death for both men are still pending completion of autopsy and lab reports.
