DENVER — A Lyft driver was wounded in an apparent road rage shooting in Denver overnight Wednesday, police said.

Officers were responding early Thursday to a shooting in the 1500 block of South Broadway, where the driver, a man, was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver had passengers in his car at the time of the shooting. Police identified the suspect as driving a white Cadillac pickup truck but more information was not available.

"The safety of our Denver community is fundamental to Lyft. We've been in touch with the driver and rider involved in this incident to offer support, and stand ready to assist law enforcement as needed," a Lyft spokesperson said in a statement.

Denver police originally said the driver was driving for Uber at the time but Uber said that was not the case before Lyft confirmed the driver was working for them at the time.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
