Three arrested in connection to shooting that left one man dead, woman injured in Weston

LAS ANIMAS COUNTY, Colo — A man died and a woman was wounded after they were shot in their Weston home on Saturday.  

The Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting occurred just after noon along the 17000 block of County Road 18.6, about 22 miles west of Trinidad in southern Colorado.

The man was transported to a Colorado Springs hospital before he died. He has been identified as Armando Gallegos, 19. The woman was also transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection to the shooting. They were located following a traffic stop in Las Animas County.

Oscar Botello-Serrano, 20, was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy.

Both Aleesha Duran, 19, and John Michael Kindle, 21, were charged with accessory to first-degree murder and conspiracy.

All three suspects were being held at the Las Animas County Detention Facility without bond as of Sunday evening. 

Authorities said the three suspects may have known the man and woman of the home.

As of Monday morning, a motive remained unknown.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and sheriff’s office are continuing to investigate the crime to determined what led to the shooting.
