Teen charged as an adult in Commerce City double shooting

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office charged a 16-year-old boy as an adult in connection with a double shooting in Commerce City over the weekend.

The shooting occurred early Sunday morning in the 16800 block of E. 110th Avenue in Commerce City. Police said two people were shot during an altercation stemming from a house party. Both victims were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect, Kevin Cante, was arrested and advised of the charges Tuesday in Adams County District Court.

Cante is being charged – as an adult -- with four counts of attempted first-degree murder with extreme indifference, two counts of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, two counts of felony menacing, one count of possession of a handgun by a juvenile as a second offense, possession of a weapon by a previous juvenile offender and four counts of crime of violence, a sentencing enhancer.

A date for preliminary hearing will be set Nov. 12. Cante is held on $100,000 bond.
