Son arrested, accused of shooting and killing mother at Aurora home

AURORA, Colo. — Police in Aurora have arrested a 41-year-old man who is accused of shooting and killing his mother.

Tyrone Garth was arrested Monday morning at the scene of the alleged shooting, 641 South Potomac Street. He is being held on suspicion of first degree murder, police said.

The victim has been identified as 67-year-old Mae Rose Garth, the suspect’s mother.

The Aurora Police Department received the call around 9:20 a.m. Monday.

Once they arrived at the scene, they found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound. Mae Garth was transported to a nearby hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

Police have not revealed details as to a possible motive or the events that transpired before the shooting. They are urging witnesses to come forward by calling 303-739-6113.
