UPDATE: A service dog stolen in a Thornton auto theft case was reunited with its owner later Saturday. Police arrested a person of interest and recovered the stolen vehicle.
THORNTON, Colo. — Police in Thornton are looking for a person of interest in connection with a car theft at a hospital Saturday afternoon.
A service dog was inside a running 2000 black Chevy Monte Carlo stolen from North Suburban Medical Center. Police said the owner was dropping off a relative around 2:30 p.m. when the incident occurred.
Authorities have identified a person of interest in the case. Police said Kelsey Sagrillo had just been discharged from the hospital when she allegedly entered the Monte Carlo and drove off.
In the vehicle was the victim’s 11-year-old service dog named “Art,” a blue healer with no collar and no microchip, police said.
Sagrillo was last seen wearing black pants, a white tank-top, maroon boots, a black jacket, and a red scarf.
